Domatic

Domatic set out to be the USB of smart buildings: an open platform making intelligent building automation accessible without proprietary lock-in. I joined to build the complete UX ecosystem from scratch.

Through cross-functional working sessions, we developed the Install, Manage, Occupy framework, grounding every product decision across three distinct user types and the overlaps between them. Three interfaces followed from that.

Portal

The Portal is the building manager’s primary tool, optimized for fast orientation and early intervention: system health at a glance, usage patterns over time, flagged units surfaced for attention, one-click report generation.

In a supportive housing context, no activity from a tenant over 48 hours may call for a welfare check. The design has to surface that signal without noise.

Touchscreen

The Touchscreen is what occupants interact with every day. Every deployment starts from a reference design that scales across device sizes from 5.5 to 17 inches. Pre-programmed scenes handle the ambient layer out of the box. Nuanced control is there when they need it.

Multi-Brand
Design System

Before anything could scale, the infrastructure had to exist. A complete Figma-to-production workflow: components, variables, design tokens, and Storybook documentation. Built to enable Domatic to span platforms, screen sizes, orientations, and a growing customer base. The foundation that transforms a startup design function into one ready for scale.
